Studios are laying off? The developers of Palworld are hiring!

The year 2024 is already a terrible year for video game developers, as the industry has experienced numerous mass layoffs throughout January. If there’s one studio that’s (almost) enjoying it at the moment, it’s Pocketpair. The Palworld’s tidal wave has allowed the group to see the future more serenely. But with a particularly busy roadmap, it will be necessary to keep the promises in order not to provoke the players’ anger! In a message posted on X/Twitter, the studio says it has “much more to do” and needs new talents to achieve it. “We are looking for people for all positions, but we are particularly looking for planners and engineers”. Let’s just hope that the working conditions are better than those of the Pals in their game.

But what is this video game that is already making The Sims tremble?

The game Paralives has been revealed through a new video and, to say the least, it promises a lot of good things. Its multiple options for editing the interior down to the smallest detail, its avatar creation system with numerous statistics, its possible interactions between “paras”…all seem to indicate that it is a serious competitor to The Sims. There are two important elements to remember in this video. The first is that the title is planned for 2025. The second is that it will be paid at the time of its release but all its DLCs will be free. Paralives is definitely a “life simulator” to keep an eye on.

The Steam Néo Fest hides a horror game to try urgently

The Steam Next Fest puts the spotlight on often promising games. But one that is beginning to make a lot of noise on the net is Mouthwashing, a first-person narrative horror game, developed by the independent studio Wrong Organ (How Fish is Made). The game puts us in a drifting spaceship and offers unsettling themes, ranging from suicide to cannibalism. The demo is short but very effective: if you want to be shaken with an indie horror game, it’s time to launch Steam and step into a space as dark as a moonless night. The final version is planned for the first quarter of this year.

The FPS free-to-play from Ubisoft is finally coming!

Delayed multiple times, it should finally arrive soon. During a conference for investors, Ubisoft confirmed that its action game XDefiant will arrive before the end of March. This appears to be a visible light at the end of a long dark tunnel for the development team that has encountered many past problems (netcode and stability). As a reminder, XDefiant is a free-to-play FPS that has gained some success and positive feedback during its beta phases. There is, however, a lot of competition in this segment, and COD surely has no intention to allow a newcomer to enter the field without trying to put a burst between the eyes. If all goes well, we will be able to test the game in less than two months.

A sound bug would have revealed a future playable character in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

So, while Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League has just been released and is struggling to convince the press and players, we know that Rocksteady is doing everything possible to regularly offer online content for its (over)surviving game service. While the Joker is currently the only bonus character to have been revealed by the development studio, a Reddit user thinks he has found the identity of another character to come in DLC thanks to…a dialogue that seems to have nothing to do. ZeronintyPlays has indeed posted a gameplay excerpt showing his hero fighting, before Brainiac tells him: “I didn’t expect you to be the weak link in this chain, Freeze“. From there to thinking that Mr. Freeze should be part of the cast soon, there’s only one step that some are taking.
