The best free RPGs on Steam that you can’t miss!

TOP 3 video game releases of the week – Early FEBRUARY 2024! 🎮

Steam is a platform that empowers millions of gamers and developers. Created and developed by Valve, the game studio behind hit titles such as Half-Life, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, Left 4 Dead, and Portal. Among the myriad of genres that Steam offers, it presents a long list of free role-playing games (RPGs) that continue to delight customers every day. These free role-playing games are easy to learn and offer thousands of hours of gameplay to keep players glued to their seats. From anime to strategy games, these titles cover a wide spectrum of sub-genres.

Updated on January 30, 2024, by Mark Sammut: Steam had an excellent start in 2024. Palworld and Enshrouded were released in early access, and both of them have seen phenomenal success. The former could very well be one of the biggest games of the year, despite how premature that statement may seem in January. The month also ended with some big releases like Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Tekken 8, both on Steam. Unfortunately, these are all premium products, but players have enough great free RPGs on Steam that they can try out.

Warframe Release: March 25, 2013

Warframe is a serious contender for the most improved game of all time. When the game was released in 2013, its nice combination of third-person shooting and melee gameplay was marred by repetitive levels and bland environments. Almost a decade later, Warframe has evolved into an ambitious project that includes open-world sections, a deep story, an impressive array of Warframes and weapons, and a gameplay loop that makes the grind rewarding.

Phantasy Star Online 2 spent close to a decade stuck in Japan, but has finally evolved into New Genesis. This iteration brings several changes, including the introduction of an open world in place of standalone regions.
