Our opinion on the Dell XPS 13 9315

This laptop is equipped with Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, a backlit keyboard and an infrared camera for biometric facial recognition. This Windows 11 Ultrabook with a thin and light solid blue aluminum design, whose responsiveness is boosted by a fast 512GB SSD storage, is based on 16GB of RAM as well as an Intel Alder Lake Core i7-1250U processor with Iris Xe graphics for good performance in daily use.

Dell XPS 13 9315 Frame, Connections, Screen

With its compact, thin and light Sky Blue aluminum design, this versatile laptop has an original and elegant look.

This Ultrabook incorporates connectivity limited to 2 USB-C Thunderbolt 4 as well as Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E wireless modules for communication and remote connection, which is below average.
If necessary, you can use a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to USB adapter.

Biometric authentication with face recognition using Windows Hello technology is possible as the webcam adopts Infrarouge technology.

The chiclet keyboard can apparently be backlit so that its keys can be seen better in the dark.

Dell XPS 13 9315 performance, battery life


As our test dedicated to the Dell XPS 13 9315 reveals, its autonomy is about 10 hours with a battery in light use.
It may therefore be of interest to nomads such as those looking for a student laptop, especially as it is very easy to carry around thanks to its lightness, compactness and finesse.

To ensure such autonomy, this ultraportable relies on energy-efficient components. So the 16GB of RAM is low-power like the Intel Alder Lake Core i7-1250U processor whose TDP of 9W is lower than the traditional 15W processor.

Therefore, with this Core i7 we get better autonomy but lower performance.
This Ultrabook is suitable for everyday use, including viewing photos and HD videos, thanks to the Iris Xe solution installed on the Core i7.

Gaming isn't really this laptop's cup of tea due to the Core i7 performance but also the 4K definition. Because it requires more graphics calculations than Full HD, which means a lower number of fps. We therefore have to be prepared to make many concessions, such as drastically reducing screen resolution, in order to hope to play light games.

Obviously, reduced power consumption and a compact form factor means SSD storage, as it is more energy efficient than a hard drive, while being quieter, more robust and much faster.

SSD provides much better fluidity and responsiveness on a day-to-day basis than a hard drive.
Thanks to the SSD, startups/shutdowns and app launches are faster.

Here we find a 512 GB SSD, a capacity in line with hard disk standards and with what many models on the market offer.
Of course, if you need extra space, you can use an external storage drive. Choosing a USB-C/Thunderbolt device in this case represents an interesting option for getting fast transfers.
